About

“Shut Up Your Mouse Obama” is a memorable quote said by a middle-aged Egyptian woman in accusing U.S. President Barack Obama and the American government of meddling in her country’s affairs during an interview with a TV news crew at a protest in February 2014. Partially delivered in broken English, the woman’s rant went viral in the Middle East after the news clip was uploaded to YouTube on March 6th, 2014.

During the February 2014 Egyptian parliamentary elections, a local news channel interviewed an unidentified woman who immediately began telling Barack Obama to “shut up your mouse” before voicing her support for Egyptian military commander Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and denouncing former President Mohammad Al-Morsi. On February 26th, 2014, the شبكة يقين الإخبارية YouTube channel uploaded the interview to YouTube (shown below).
