On June 22nd of 2015, popular youtuber Danisnotonfire posted a picture to his Instagram of him overlooking the ocean. He commented on how in the picture, he looked like the grim reaper, with his black hoodie.
Instagram user @phanisperf quickly made the account @deathisnotonfire and posted a meme of Dan’s death picture. Other people began to send in their own memes.
