Correction Guy, also known as Grammar Guy, refers to a series of image macros that features the drawing of a guy in suit giving the stop gesture with his hand. The image is accompanied with the caption that corrects a poster’s mistake either in grammar, spelling or facts.
Origin
On July 29th, 2011, an image was uploaded to the now defunct funny-pictures.picphotos.net. The image shows a text stating that windows need to reset to update which is then interrupted by the image macro telling to stop right there.

On April 13th, 2012, One of the first example of the image macro which is used for grammar correction was uploaded to Troll Memegenerator under the title "Grammar Correction Guy[1].

Spread
On May 9th, 2012, the image macro under the name “grammar guy”[2] was registered to Meme Generator which as of April, 2015, is ranked 149th with over 41.000 images on the site. On June 20th, 2012, the image was again registered to Meme Generator under the name “Correction guy”[3] which as of April, 2015 is ranked 98th with over 83.000 images on the site.
On an unregistered date, 9Gag user WARFX uploaded an image titled “Grammar guy’s had enough”[4] which shows the image macro correcting the grammar and spelling of a cardboard sign followed by the macro telling the creator of the sign to kill herself. As of April, 2015, the image has gathered more than 27.000 points.
