Sarah Palin Joins Boybands is the name for a series of images created by Deviantart user solaceontown and Tumblr user official-wentz-booty-patrol after seeing a classmate misspell “explain” as “exopalin”. The creator immediately had the notion to badly photoshop Republican politician Sarah Palin’s face onto a member of the Korean pop group Exo and send it to the peer as a troll. The incident became an inside joke with a good friend of the creator, and the two created various other photomanipulations (most of which can be found in solaceontown’s Deviantart gallery.) The novelty of pasting one image onto another rather than attempting to blend Palin’s face onto a specific band member has given the set of images some popularity, among both fans of the groups used and elsewhere.
