  • 11/23/13--22:34: The Twilight Sparkle Scepter
  • About

The Twilight Sparkle Scepter, also known as the Twilicane, is a gold-plated cane topped with the head of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic character Twilight Sparkle wearing a sheepish grin.

In Season 4 Episode 2 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, originally aired on November 23rd, 2013, the villain character Discord gives Twilight Sparkle a scepter and a royal cape while mocking her for being a princess after leaving her friends in the forest (shown below).

Shortly after the episode aired, threads on 4chan’s /mlp/ (pony) board started to appear about the scepter, resulting in large quantities of photoshops. On November 24th, the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic storyboard artist Sabrina Alberghetti posted a tweet linking to a face swapped image of Twilight Sparkle and the scepter.

The same day, YouTuber Daimondo uploaded a video featuring a 3D-rendered model of the scepter in the sandbox game Garry’s Mod (shown below, left). Also on November 24th, the My Little Pony blog Equestria Daily[1] published an article about the overnight popularity surrounding the scepter, providing links to Garry’s Mod and Team Fortress 2 3D models[2] of the scepter and a newly-created “Ask Twilight Scepter” Tumblr blog.[3] On November 25th, YouTuber MrMental4 uploaded a parody of the Leekspin animation featuring Twilight Sparkle and the scepter (shown below, right).

On the same day, MLP Forums[4] member Bunny submitted a thread about the scepter, noting its prevalence on the My Little Pony-related image hosting site Derpibooru.[5] Also on November 25th, Redditor Scottfra submitted an animated GIF of a dead horse being beaten with the scepter (shown below) to the /r/mylittlepony[6] subreddit, which was initially uploaded to Know Your Meme by user Tyler Bowman[7] a day earlier, gaining over 520 up votes and 35 comments in the first 16 hours.

  • 11/24/13--23:36: Absolutely Disgusting
  • About

Absolutely Disgusting is an image macro featuring a screen-capture of an appalled-looking news reporter with the lower-thirds caption reading “absolutely disgusting.” In discussion forums and image board communities, it is often used as a reaction image to express one’s disapproval.

In May 2008, American writer Mike Sacks uploaded a compilation of screen captured images taken from various local news segments in a webpage titled “Photos of TV,”[5] which included a screenshot of a New Jersey UPN9 news reporter providing a description of something that is “absolutely disgusting” in his vicinity, as suggested by the accompanying lower-third caption. (shown below).

On May 21st, 2008, Gawker[3] highlighted the gallery in a post by writer Nick Douglas. On October 6th, 2010, the image was posted to the /nom/ (food) board on the Britfags[4] image board. On February 27th, 2012, the reaction image was submitted to the /tg/[2] (Traditional Games) board on 4chan in response to a thread containing stories about the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. • 11/25/13--13:41: Fuck You Jessie
  • On November 25th, 2013 a Reddit user named MoonMetropolis uploaded a picture found on the /r/cringepics to the /r/facepalm subreddit about a man who had fabricated a different reason for being fired rather than the real reason of him not being dedicated and/or a bad employee. Within hours the post had over 2000 upvotes and had spread to other subreddits such as /r/bestof, /r/quityourbullshit and others.

By ten hours, it had spread like wildfire among Reddit and possibly 4chan. This is when the Reddit user FuckYouJessie appeared and claimed to be the OP of the Facebook status. At first his request was for it to be taken down off the internet, but then devolved into angry and often illegable accusations of forgery and blatant yet poorly written threats. As was pointed out, he/she had never heard of the Beyonce incident.

Due to its relatively new status, the event is still unfolding and this article will be updated as new details trickle in.

    rrrather logo

rrrather is a single serving site that presents questions starting with “would you rather” and give two choices. The user must choose one of the two possible answers, no matter how horrible the choices may be. Popular would you rather questions include hypothetical situations where both choices represent terrible choices, and where it is up to the voter to decide with choice is the lesser of both evils. Questions on the site range from classic “would you rather” questions, to more generic “this or that” questions, or even plain “yes or no” questions.

Would you rather started as a conversation game used as ice-breaker during parties or conversation starters during dates. The game inspired a TV show, a movie, a board game, and a website.

    Example of rrrather questions

    • Would you rather go way back in time and meet your ancestors (Pre 1800’s) or go way into the future and meet your great grandchildren (Post 2200)?
    • Would you rather Wake up naked and sore and without any memory of the night before, next to the Burger King telling you “you had it your way” or Wake up naked next to Ronald McDonald telling you that “you were loving it”??
    • Would you play Russian Roulette one time with one bullet for $100,000,000? Yes or No?
    • Would you rather get a dream vacation for two weeks or spend five days with anyone in the world, but you must stay in your hometown?
    • Who/what created the world? God or the Big Bang?
    • Would you rather have no one show up to your wedding or your funeral ?

rrrather’s most famous question Who/what created the world? was posted on r/atheism, which sparked a shitstorm of a religious debate. The results by country of the question show that the United States has a much higher rate of theism than other developed nations. Votes by gender show that women tend to be more religious, even though religions tend to be misogynistic.

Youtube videos answering questions from rrrather have become a popular youtube tag. Questions from the dirty and gross category have been answered by Shane Dawson in a video with Tyler Oakley.

A comon question asked on reddit AMAs is whether OP would rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck.

  • 11/26/13--21:18: Death of Brian Griffin
  • Overview

The Death of Brian Griffin refers to the departure of the talking dog character from the American animated TV sitcom Family Guy after getting hit by a car in the episode “Life of Brian” which aired in late November 2013. Following the premiere of the episode, many fans of the series took their complaints online, urging the producers to bring Brian back to life.

“Life of Brian,” the sixth episode in the 12th season of Family Guy aired on November 24th, 2013. In the episode, Stewie and Brian go back in time to Jamestown, Virginia using a time machine to resolve the issue of how Stewie gave the Native Americans guns, thus letting them take charge of America instead of the white men. After returning to present-day Quahog with the help of another Stewie from a parallel universe, they decide to destroy the time machine and dump it at the junk yard to prevent any further chaos. Upon arriving at the junk yard, they find an old street hockey net and bring it back home to play street hockey, during which Brian is run over by a reckless driver and suffers a deadly injury. He later died in the hospital. He was replaced for the rest of the episode with another dog named Vinny who helped comfort Stewie.

    Notable Developments

    Twitter Reaction

Immediately following the airing of the episode, many viewers took their shocked reactions to Twitter using the hashtag #RIPBrian, while others began pleading the producers of the series, including the executive producer Seth MacFarlane, to bring the character back to life with the hashtag #BringBackBrian. According to Topsy, the hashtag #BringBackBrian was mentioned at least 6,000 times within the first hour of the broadcast and became a trending topic of the day.

Aaron Thompson submitted a petition titled “Seth MacFarlane, and Fox Broadcasting Company: Bring Brian Griffin back to Family Guy” to, amassing more than 100,000 signatures within the first 72 hours. That same day, several Facebook pages were launched to mourn the death of Brian and plead the producers to bring him back alive, most notably R.I.P Brian from Family Guy, which has gained more than 758,000 likes as of November 27th.

    Revival Countdown Hoax

On November 26th, a website featuring a countdown clock scheduled to go off in ten days was launched under the domain, leading some fans to speculate that the dog may return to life in the near future. However, by the next morning, Fox had dismissed the validity of the countdown by stating “that the ‘special announcement from Brian’ website is a hoax and was not created by anyone connected to the show, studio or network.”

    News Media Coverage

Shortly after this plot twist, many major news websites including CNN, TMZ, The Independent, CBS, The Huffington Post, The International Business Times, and countless others jumped onto the story. Steve Callaghan, executive producer of Family Guy, was quoted in an interview with E! News claiming that the move was “a fun way to shake things up” and that he and others on the crew “got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters.”

Gay Waitress Tipping Controversy refers to a hoax involving an alleged case of discrimination toward Dayna Morales, a lesbian waitress at the Gallop Asian Bistro restaurant in Bridgewater, New Jersey, who claimed that she was denied a tip from a family she had served because of her sexual orientation. However, shortly after the story spread across Facebook in late November 2013, the accused patrons stepped forward and debunked Morales’ claim with a bank statement supporting that they had actually tipped the server.

On November 13th, 2013, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy Facebook page “Have A Gay Day” posted a photograph of a receipt sent from waitress Dayna Morales claiming that she did not receive a tip from a customer based on her sexual orientation. In the first two weeks, the post gained over 10,000 likes and 4,100 shares.

    Notable Developments

    News Media Coverage

On November 14th, Gawker[13] published an article about the Facebook post, which denounced the family for being bigoted. On November 15th, 2013, NBC New York broadcast a segment about the controversy, noting that Morales had been receiving large tips and donations due to the controversy (shown below).

In the coming days, several news sites reported that Morales began receiving an influx of donations and support following the publicized controversy, including CNN,[11] Today[12] and The Huffington Post.[14]

    Hoax Revealed

On November 26th, NBC New York broadcast a follow-up segment reporting that the family had come forward providing proof that they had tipped the waitress and had not left a homophobic note (shown below). In the segment, the news station questioned Morales about the receipt, to which she claimed that the note was not left in her handwriting.

That day, several threads about the hoax reached the front page of Reddit[2][3][4] and it was reported on by various news sites, including The Daily Mail,[5] Mashable,[1]USA Today,[7] Fox News,[8] Gothamist[9] and CNN.[10] On November 27th, The Journal News[6] reported that ex-colleagues and friends of Morales had accused the New Jersey waitress of other lies, saying she claimed to have shaved her head after being diagnosed with brain cancer, that she served in Afghanistan during her career as a marine and that her home was severely damaged following hurricane sandy in 2012.

  • 11/27/13--13:37: Sharkeisha Fight Video
  • Overview

Sharkeisha Fight Video is a video clip of a young woman referred to as “Sharkeisha” sucker-punching an unsuspecting victim in the face in the middle of a heated argument. Upon being uploaded via Instagram in late November 2013, the video quickly went viral on Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere online, inspiring a slew of photoshopped parodies involving images of sharks.

On November 26th, 2013, Instagram user im_stupid____ shared a video clip[1] of a young woman, who is referred to as “Sharkeisha” by an onlooker, sucker-punching another woman known as “Shay” in the face during an argument and repeatedly assaulting her while the victim tries to defend herself in a crouched position. The Instagram video quickly went viral and began circulating on Twitter as well, with the original post garnering more than 20,000 likes and 30,000 comments in less than 24 hours, shortly before it was removed from the site for violating the terms of service. On the next day, the video was re-uploaded to World Star Hip Hop (shown below), where it drew more than 3.8 million views in the matter of few hours.

    Notable Development

    Online Reactions

The fight video was quickly met with varying reactions from the viewers on Instagram and Twitter, ranging from messages denouncing the act of violence in shock and disbelief to comments expressing awe at the assailant’s physical strength, while others began poking fun at her name “Sharkeisha” with puns and photoshopped parodies involving sharks, Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards and the 2013 SyFy made-for-TV disaster film Sharknado. By early morning on November 27th, “Sharkeisha” had become the number one trending topic on Twitter and the third most searched keyword of the day on Google Trends.

According to Topsy, the word “Sharkeisha” was mentioned at least 800,000 times on Twitter between November 26th and November 27th.

    News Media Coverage

As “Sharkeisha” began climbing up the trending chart on Twitter, the video was soon picked up by internet culture blogs and hip hop news sites as well as mainstream news outlets, with more than one article expressing concerns over the Internet’s obsession with violence, particularly in the light of The Knockout Game becoming a national controversy in the United States. In addition, Hip Hop Wired[9] observed that the online parodies of the assailant’s name can be seen as an example of “coonery” at its finest, reminding the readers that there are “a legion of people who think this is the sort of classless behavior typical of any and all Black women.”

    Rumored Mugshot

On November 27th, Twitter user @Desus uploaded a mugshot of a young woman identified as a “Sharkeisha Tyesha Thompson” from Charlotte, North Carolina, with a message implying that the assailant had been taken into custody (shown below). Although it remains unconfirmed whether the woman depicted in the photogram is the actual assailant seen in the video, public records of arrests suggest that Sharkeisha Tyesha Thompson had been arrested at least once before on charge of “uttering a forged instrument,” or assuming a false identity with forged dcumentation.

  • 11/29/13--06:49: Cyber Monday
  • Work in progress. Waiting for further assistance

Cyber Monday is the marketing term for the Monday after Thanksgiving in the United States. The term “Cyber Monday” was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online.

The term made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a press release entitled “’Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year” According to the Research 2005 eHoliday Mood Study, “77 percent of online retailers said that their sales increased substantially on the Monday after Thanksgiving, a trend that is driving serious online discounts and promotions on Cyber Monday this year(2005).” In late November 2005, the New York Times reported that “The name Cyber Monday grew out of the observation that millions of otherwise productive working Americans, fresh off a Thanksgiving weekend of window shopping, were returning to high-speed Internet connections at work Monday and buying what they liked.”

    Online Spending

In 2006, comScore reported that online spending on Cyber Monday jumped 25% to $608 million, 21% to $733 million in 2007, and 15% to $846 million in 2008.

In 2009, comScore reported that online spending increased 5 percent on Cyber Monday to $887 million and that more than half of dollars spent online at US Web sites originated from work computers (52.7 percent), representing a gain of 2.3 percentage points from last year. Buying from home comprised the majority of the remaining share (41.6 percent) while buying from international locations accounted for 5.8 percent.

According to comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni, “comScore data have shown that Cyber Monday online sales have always been driven by considerable buying activity from work locations. That pattern hasn’t changed. After returning from the long Thanksgiving weekend with a lot of holiday shopping still ahead of them, many consumers tend to continue their holiday shopping from work. Whether to take advantage of the extensive Cyber Monday deals offered by retailers or to buy gifts away from the prying eyes of family members, this day has become an annual ritual for America’s online holiday shoppers.”

In 2010, comScore reported the first-ever $1 billion online shopping day ($1028M), an increase of 16 percent over 2009. In 2011, comScore reported that Cyber Week saw US consumers spend over $6 billion online from November 28 to December 2. In 2012, comScore reported that Cyber Monday saw a 17% increase in sales from 2011, totaling $1.465 billion.

Cyber Monday has become an international marketing term used by online retailers in Canada, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Chile, Colombia, Ireland, and Japan.

  • Working on it. Help will be appreciated.

Paul Walker’s Deceased refers to the tragic death of the actor Paul Walker in a car accident occurred in Valencia, Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles.

On November 30, 2013, at approximately 3:30 PM (PST), Walker and Roger Rodas[1] left an event for Walker’s charity Reach Out Worldwide (for victims of Typhoon Haiyan).[2][3] Shortly after leaving in Rodas’ red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, the driver lost control and crashed into a light pole and tree in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California and the vehicle burst into flames.[4][2][5][6] The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department declared the two dead at the scene.[4][7] Coverage was first reported after Walker’s publicist, Ame van Iden, confirmed early reports of his death.[2] Rodas became friends with Walker after meeting at a race track. He became his financial adviser in 2007 and helped to establish Reach Out Worldwide.[8] Rodas was the CEO of Always Evolving, a performance shop for high-end vehicles owned by Walker, located in Valencia.[9] The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office stated that speed was a factor in the crash. Burned rubber and doughnut marks were found in figure 8 patterns on the road near the crash site, but it was not clear to officials if these were related to the crash.[2]

    “Cogito ergo sum”

“If You Want to Think That, Then Do So in Your Mind Only (Japanese: お前が思うんならそうなんだろう お前ん中ではな, Omae ga Omounnnara Sounandarou, Omaen Nakadeha na), sometimes dubbed as “Hidamari Fight” (ひだまりファイト), refers to a collaged photo consisting of the phrase from Japanese manga Shojo Fight[1] written by Yowoko Nihonbashi and a picture of Yuno from the TV anime series for Japanese 4-panel comic strip Hidamari Sketch[2] by Ume Aoki. It has been used as reaction face or reaction Shift-JIS art in both Futaba Channel (2chan) and 2channel since around early 2009.

The phrase is taken from the 4th chapter of the manga where Shigeru Shikishima talked with Neri Oishi, the protagonist convincing herself that the traffic death of her older sister was caused by the sister’s teammates in a high school volleyball club (shown below, left). That childhood friend of her said this phrase to expostulate with her who had that unjustified resentment based on misunderstanding and refused to face to the truth. The comic book including this episode was released in 2006.

Meanwhile, the original of Yuno’s smile picture is taken from the 1st episode in TV anime Hidamari Sketch aired in 2007 (shown below, right).

This is a funsub and there are no proper translations for this phrase because official English version for the manga hasn’t released. Other English translations found on the web are “If you think so, You could to Yourself” and “If you think so, it must be so.”

That panel of the impressive remark became to be utilized as a reaction image to mock at injudicious and foolish person on 2chan circa 2008 or early 2009. Several derivatives combining other characters images and the remark’s balloon had been made in those days. Yuno’s one was one of those instances in 2chan (shown below, left). This picture modifying her pure smile into look of contempt with glazed eyes got the best popularity among those derivatives. Its Shift-JIS version was born in 2channel around March 2009 (shown below, right), and both picture and Shift-JIS art quickly spread throughout the Japanese web via many affi-blogs, blogs reprinting 2channel’s threads for the purpose of earning money by Google Adsense or Amazon Associate Program.

Inspired by this picture, dozens of parody illustrations are uploaded to Japanese illustrator’s communities pixiv[3] and Nico Nico Seiga.[4]

    Feedback to the Creators

On September 9th, 2009, Yowoko Nihonbashi asked to her followers about the picture of a cute girl uttering Shigeru’s line which sometimes came into her field of vision on Twitter.[5] 3 hours after she became to recognise Yuno, she posted a tribute illustration for Yuno by herself (shown below, left).[6] In response, Ume Aoki draw Neri and showed her appreciation to that Ms. Nihonbashi’s illustration and a person who made that photo collage in her doujin book released at Comiket79 in December 2009 (shown below, right).

Umm, it seems like someone made a reference to “Girl Fight!” with a drawing of Yuno from the first episode of the Hidamari anime…

Then it found its way onto the internet where Nihonbashi saw it, and then she drew her own version of Yuno…

I have all of Nihonbashi’s comics books, so when I found out about all that from a friend of mine I was really shocked and over joyed at the same time!!!!! I super totally love Machizou!!!!!

I was so happy about it, I started thinking about what I could do it return… and then it hit me! All of a sudden I thought “Hey! I’m making a doujin book aren’t it!?” So I gave drawing one of her characters a shot!

    Via: Apricot+ “Shikou Teishi” p13

As a result of this, Yuno’s photo collage made in 2chan led to form a friendship of these two female creators. In June 2010, both of them showed approval and appreciation to people who made the photo collage and the Shift-JIS art on their Twitter[7][8] when it was revealed that Ume Aoki joined into a guest writer in the supplementary comic book for Shoujo Fight vol.7 Special Edition released in the following month

  • 12/01/13--04:00: Hakata-san
  • About

Hakata-san (Japanese: 伯方さん), previously called “Shio-tan” (塩たん), is a moe gijinka character for a Japanese table salt called "Salt of Hakata" (伯方の塩), which was born in a MAD video meme for the salt on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND). It has been a mascot for the salt among Japanese internet users since 2009.

In the middle of 2008, the sound logo of “Salt of Hakata” became to a popular audio resource for MAD videos on NND, and Nico Nico Pedia’s article for the salt made in June of that year had earned many voices from users in its comment board[1] which also had Oekaki[2] board system. Hakata-san was born in that board when anonymous users were confessing lewd imaginations for the salt in the beginning of 2009.[3]

    70 : Anonymous:2009/01/26(Mon) 02:02:50 ID: I5wHdzGN+X

I want to lick Hakata-no-Shio-tan’s salty pussy and melt it up.

    71 : Anonymous:2009/01/26(Mon) 02:19:48 ID: Gv95C2/IzB

Hakata-no-Shio-tan must be a little boy

These 2 nonsensical comments inspired people’s imagination to a gijinka character for the salt. Then on February 4th, a NND user ERsansuu (ER算数)[4] drew a rough illustration for “Shio-tan” on that Oekaki board, which was a character wearing on tricolore-colored Mexican hat and poncho, where the source for that solar salt was taken in that country.

“Actually, I was born in Mexico!!”

By getting an incarnation, Shio-tan grew up rapidly through followers jokingly comments and illustrations posted to that board[5], and its personality was formed to a disgraceful person wearing no underwears. On the other hand, its sex was defined unknown or neutral as same as NaCl’s pH level.

Then, the subsequent increase in popularity in the outside of that board was brought by an animated video of Salt-tan posted by Lamaze-P, a very famous vocaloid creator known for his previous works Po Pi Po and Get Down. In this video, he sliced the sound logo and reconstruct the phrase “Hakata-san, Hashitanai” (lit. Hakata-san, How Disgraceful!) and mixed into his original song. This video was posted to NND on February 19th, 2009[6], and more smooth animated edition was made by another user and posted on the same day (shown below). Since after the hit of this video, This gijinka character became to be better known as “Hakata-san” rather than “Shio-tan”.

Nowadays, Hakata-san is featured on a hundred of NND videos related to “Hakata no Shio”[7], and it gets hundreds of parody or fan illustrations on illustrators communities pixiv[8] and Nico Nico Seiga.[9]

Salt of Hakata (Japanese: 伯方の塩, Hakata no Shio) is a table salt released by Hakata Salt Manufacturing[1] since 1973. Its source saltwater contains a large amount of solar salt made in Mexico and Australia though it’s recognized as pure Japanese sea salt by sloping salt-terrace method.

Since 2008, its long-run TV commercial movies (TVCMs) has been a popular subject for parodies on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND) due to its very impressive sound logo.

The TVCM series for that table salt, including famous sound logo of a man barking out the product name in a strong staccato manner, has been aired since 1997 and it has been familiar to almost all Japanese people. The melody for this line is taken from an enka[2] song “Otoko Ryu” (男龍, lit. Man Dragon) by a Japanese singer Yasuo Takajo who are also barking out it in the TVCMs.

“Ha! Ka! Ta! no! Shi! O!”

The very impressive shout of “Ha! Ka! Ta! no! Shi! O!” has been sometimes parodied by Japanese comedians since before. In addition to this, this shout began to be introduced to MAD videos by NND users circa the summer of 2008.[3] They has utilized it to cause surrealistic lulz in various kind of MADs. Besides, they sometimes slice the phrase into each notes and reconstruct into another phrases or singing voices by the “Human-Powered Vocaloid” (人力ボーカロイド) manner.

In a reflection of the popularity, an annual video series of compiling popular “Salt of Hakata” MAD videos in ranking style started in the beginning of 2009[4] and had continued to 2011.[5][6].

"Hakata-san" (伯方さん) is a moegijinka character for Salt of Hakata, who is a disgraceful person (not a girl) wearing on Mexican hat and poncho only. Hakata-san was born in the comment board in Nico Nico Pedia’s article for the salt in February, 2009, and now it’s a mascot of this meme and shows cute but disgraceful performances in many of videos in this series.

  • 12/01/13--04:00: Dynamo Feeling
  • About

Dynamo Feeling (Japanese: ダイナモ感覚, Dainamo Kankaku), also translated as “Dynamo Sense”, is a special sense advocated by a Japanese rapper You the Rock★.[1]

This word has been a popular catchphrase among Inmufags, fans of the Japanese gay porn phenomena A Midsummer Night's Lewd Dream, due to its deep relationship to their favorite musician Gota Nishidera (西寺郷太), the leader in a Japanese pop music group Nona Reeves.[2] In addition to this, it was also their favorite audio resource for MAD videos on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND) in around 2011-2012.

You the Rock★ derived the word “Dynamo Feeling” to agitate audiences in Nona Reeves’s in-store live show at Tower Records Shibuya on October 3rd, 2000. As he joined to their tune “DJ DJ ~ Todokanu Omoi” (lit. DJ DJ ~ I’ll never break your heart) released in the previous month, he had a guest appearance on the stage. This session was live-broadcasted by Japanese music pay channel Space Shower TV.

    Translation (from 00:25-):

    Nishidera: Mr. You the Rock!
You The Rock★: Here We Go! (Ikuzoo!)
    Nishidera: New Tune! (Shinkyoku!)
You The Rock★: Dynamo Kankaku! Dynamo Kankaku! Yo! Yo! Yo! Yeah!
    Nishidera: (quietly) DJ DJ…

Video clips recoreded that program were uploaded to YouTube by pure music fans in 2009 and 2011. Then these were imported to NND by Inmufags in November 2010[3] and August 2011.[4] This is because Nishidera has earned a cult following among Inmufags who believe he has a close resemblance to Yajuu Senpai (野獣先輩, lit. Beastly Senoir, abbr. YJSNPI), their most favorite gay porn actor in the A Midsummer Night's Lewd Dream series since before. Inmufags call him by an acronym “NSDR” and like to collect his videos to their homeground.

Left: Gota Nishidera | Right: YJSNPI

When the latter reprint was uploaded to NND in August 2011, this nonsensical but very catchy phrase finally succeeded to catch an attention among Inmufags and win their heart. To make the matters worse, You the Rock★, already got a nickname “YTR” from Inmufags, also forced to join onto the lineup of mockery in that gay porn meme since he had been arrested by weed and thrown to jail in May of that year. Thus, “Dynamo feeling” is sometimes dubbed as junkie’s sense. And triggered by the Mayim MayimMAD video (shown blow), this catchphrase started to be introduced to many MAD videos in the following month.[5]

    Victims Reactions

NSDR, unwillingly earns a cult following among Inmufags, has continued showing a forgiving attitude to them. Though he clearly denies their insistence that he resembles to YJSNPI, he has occasionally replied jokingly to Inmufag’s messages on Twitter.[6] Inmufags call him “Big Bro NSDR” (NSDR兄貴) in honor of his graciousness.

Meanwhile, YTR only once responded to this online phenomena in his first media appearance after release from jail on November 10th, 2011, by the shout “This ain’t Dynamo Kankaku!” (ダイナモ感覚じゃないぜ!, Dynamo Kankaku ja Nai ze!) on the live performance stage in a pay channel program.

  • 12/01/13--04:01: Cyclops Senpai
  • About

Cyclops Senpai (Japanese: サイクロップス先輩; lit. Cyclops the Senior) is an incarnation of “Yajuu Senpai” (野獣先輩; lit. The Beastly Senior), the most beloved character by Inmufags or fans of the Japanese gay porn meme A Midsummer Night’s Lewd Dream. He is also a subject for parodies on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND) along with its background music in the opening scene.

“Cyclops Senpai” comes from a Japanese gay porn “Scooop!!! 1 – Virtual Sex – Meet the Team!!!” (Scooop!!! 第一弾 virtual sex-イカせ隊・見参!!!) which was released by COAT Corporation on May 20th, 2001. The remarkable feature in this video is its quite weird opening scene where a guy with silver body painting is wearing a black head-mounted display and connecting to a virtual sex machine. This opening scene is colored by 1999 hit tune “Sandstorm”[1] by a Finnish trance music producer/DJ Darude.[2]

And, this silver guy, the protagonist in this video, is the same actor as Yajuu Senpai who appeared in the 4th chapter of A Midsummer Night’s Lewd Dream, the most famous Japanese gay porn video released by the same production in that year.

Editor’s Note: This is not the original but a censored version made by Inmufag

    Body Sensor…
    E m u l a t e d…
    E  m  u  l  a  t  e  d…

Inmufags found out this video in April 2011[3] from a long-term investigation for Yajuu Senpai’s other works. It was soon set to a subject for mockery due to its poor rendition in the opening scene and the Senpai’s high piercing breathing voices as usual. Yajuu Senpai in this video was given a nickname “Cyclops Senpai” because that head-mounted display reminds them of the visor of Cyclops in X-men series.[4] And withstanding NND admin’s severe deleting campagin against Inmufags, many dirty MAD videos sampling this video have been posted to NND since June 2012.[5] In those MADs, some silly phonetic translations are also featured: Target → Darvish[6], Body Sensor → Boshin Sensou (戊辰戦争; Boshin War[7]).

On the other hand, this dirty gay porn meme has spread a harmful reputation for “Sandstorm” since Inmufags are sampling Cyclops Senpai along with this song and utilizing this song as his theme music. Nowadays, Even pure “Sandstorm” videos, never related to that gay porn, have been suffered Inmufags’ dirty in-jokes.
