General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a law signed by the European Parliment and Council for governing the protection and privacy of data for citizens of the Euorpean Union. The law would give citizens more control over their data than the companies that host the data, requiring consent from individuals for data processing, making that collected dad anonymous, providing notifications in cases of data breaches, requiring companies to hire data protection officers and safely handling data transfers across borders.
