Gameplay

The gameplay mostly consists in one-on-one matches. However, unlike other games, Tekken allows your character to move in all areas of the combat zone, rather than just moving forward and backwards.

Can You Feel It? is a song by Donghae & Eunhyuk, a subgroup of Korean boy band Super Junior. It became involved in a meme that usually features characters doing a dance to the song.

Origin

The song was first released on the duo’s debut EP, The Beat Goes On, in March 2015. Not long after, SM Entertainment’s YouTube channel uploaded footage of various Korean people dancing to the song. As of 2017, the video sits at over 7 million views.

The meme started a month later when animator Husky Cinnamon uploaded an animation that depicted a wolf character doing a dance to the song, with movements timed to the music. It sits at over 147 thousand views as of 2017.

Spread

Afterwards, various other versions have surfaced, usually with an animator’s character performing their own, unique dance that still fits the song’s tempo.

Often, the meme misinterprets the lyrics of the chorus. The original Korean phrase is “chogi chogi”, while in the meme it’s either “choki choki” or “chok chok”.

Jon and Daenerys Shipping

About

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryan Shipping refers to fan speculation, theories and fan-fiction centered on the romantic relationship, known as shipping between the Game of Thrones characters Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryan.

Origin

While speculation about the two characters could date back as far as the book A Song of Fire and Ice’s publication, when they were introduced, the earliest mention of their relationship online occured on May 7th, 2011. Game of Thones fan site Westeros.org[1] user CornCornSnow posted in the message board “Would Daenerys find John Snow attractive?” The post (shown below) received more than 390 comments.

“Hi all,

Longtime GRRM fan, rekindled by the HBO series and the impending release of ADWD. Love the site.

I see a lot of posts where people predict Daenerys ending up with Jon Snow. My question: assuming R + L = J, why would Daenerys want to be with Jon Snow? I think she’s beyond duty already (i.e. the duty to marry another Targ), and I think she will stay unconventional as the story progresses.

Her first love was the barbaric horselord Drogo, and now she is attracted to the gaudy blue-and-gold Daario Naharis.

What makes anyone think she would go for a boring, adolescent Jon Snow? Or any Westerosi for that matter? Her taste in men seems decidedly Eastern."

Spread

On June 22, 2011, YouTuber[2] ladysnow1988 posted a fan-made music video of clips from the series entitled “Jon & Dany – On Course.” The post (shown below) received more than 122,000 views in six years.

On February 5th, 2016, Instagram[10] @peggysirota posted an image of the actors Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke, who portray Jon Snow and Daenerys, respectively, kissing. She captioned the photo “This moment was unforgettable. It was a small crew on that day, just a few of us out in the field. The chemistry between these four was huge, as you can see… I asked them to kiss, I suppose love was in the air, & I was just lucky enough to be there. 💋💨” The post (shown below) received more than 7,800 likes in a year and a half.

On July 28th, MTV[3] published an article entitled “WILLDAENERYSMARRYJONSNOW? AND 12 MOREGAME OF THRONESQUESTIONS.” The article asserts the theory that Daenerys and Jon Snow will come together as a means of perserving the Targeryan bloodline. The write:

“Targaryens were known for inbreeding. They wanted to keep their bloodlines pure. However, this had some unforeseen consequences, including madness. Since Daenerys seems to have marriage on her mind after ditching Daario in Meereen, it could make sense for her to align herself with the King in the North to defeat the Lannisters once and for all. (Although, it’s not like the Lannisters have any allies left at this point. Walder Frey’s death will surely be blamed on Jaime.)”

Interest in their relationship piqued in summer 2017, when the television series featured their meeting. On July 30th, the culture magazine Vulture[5] published the article “Is It Gross to Ship Daenerys and Jon Snow?” The article brings up a common criticism of their shipping, the fact that Daenerys and Jon Snow are related.

On Twitter] users began posting images of them together, along with theories and comments about how they will become romantically involved. On July 31st, 2017, Twitter user @SohaniTT posted a series of pictures of them together from the season seven episode “The Queen’s Justice.” She tweet (shown below), “What Daenerys said: ‘You better get to work Jon Snow’ What I heard: ‘KISS ME ALREADY!!💋’”

Following the season seven episode, “Beyond the Wall” in which Daenerys and Jon Snow share an emotional moment, even more speculation spurred. People on Twitter began tweeting their excitement about their relationship (examples below).

Several media outlets covered the popularity of the fan theory, including MTV,[6] Heavy,[7] Bustle,[8]TIME magazine[9] and more.

The 45

About

The 45 is a nickname given to President Donald Trump by his critics as a way to refer to him and the administration without invoking his actual name. The number 45 signifies the ordinal number of Donald Trump’s presidency in counting order since the establishment of the office in 1789.

Origin

The association between the number 45 and Donald Trump was established shortly after his victory in the presidential election in November 2016. One of the earliest notable instances can be attributed to Trump himself, who was seen sporting a custom edition of his iconic Make America Great Again red baseball cap with “45” embroidered on the side while leaving his Florida resort on November 27th, 2016.

However, the widespread usage of “45” as a pejorative nickname for President Trump was first introduced by American actor Laurence Fishburne during his guest appearance on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Trevor Noah on January 26th, 2017.

Fishburne: We… we don’t need to spend any more time worrying about what 45 is doing, or what 45 and his administration is doing--

Noah: Wait, that’s hilarious, you don’t call him by his name?

Fishburne: 45.

Spread

The day after the airing of The Daily Show. Urban Dictionary HipWaldorf submitted an entry defining “45” as a pejorative alias used to refer to Donald Trump.

On February 24th, 2017, Redditor EverySingleImage submitted a discussion thread to /r/EnoughTrumpSpam, urging people to stop calling Trump the “45” and arguing that using the shorthand more or less legitimizes his presidency. In the following months, a number of signs bearing the number 45 began appearing at major protests and rallies against the Trump administration.

On The Floor / Dance The Night Away

$

On The Floor (or Dance The Night Away) is a meme based around the song of the same name by American performers Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull. It primarily features characters singing and dancing (or one of them) to the song.

Origin

The song itself was released as the first single to Lopez’s seventh album Love?, exactly two months before the album. The song is a EDM-influenced club track with a rap section from Pitbull. Upon release, the track did very well and became one of the highlights of Love?

A music video was released in March that garnered a similar amount of acclaim as the song itself did. It currently sits at over a billion views as of 2017.

The meme itself originated in early June 2011 when user icywintermints uploaded an animation that started with a still of her character as the song’s drop builds up. When it drops, the character starts dancing until the end. As of now, the video only sits at almost 500 views.

Spread

Shortly after icywintermints video, more versions began appearing. Certain animators do changes to the first part’s formula on times, such as actually singing the build-up section (hence “Dance The Night Away”), but having the characters dance is a component kept.
